On November 23, 2024, an event was held in Aveiro as part of WP7, with the aim of promoting the concept of the Guardians of the Sea and laying the groundwork for the creation of the Guardians of the Lagoon of Aveiro.

The gathering was directed mainly at the local fishing community, offering a space to share stories, knowledge, and concerns about the lagoon. During the session, the Guardians of the Sea project was presented. This initiative brings together women fishers and shellfish gatherers from the Sado estuary, who, through their traditional knowledge and deep connection to the marine environment, act as marine educators, awareness-raising agents, and protectors of seagrass meadows.

The event also introduced the concept of the Guardians of the Lagoon, part of the European LIFE SeagrassRIAwild project, which seeks to engage the local community in preserving and valuing the unique ecosystem of the Ria de Aveiro.

No dia 23 de novembro de 2024, realizou-se em Aveiro um evento no âmbito da WP7, com o objetivo de divulgar o conceito das Guardiãs do Mar e lançar as bases para a futura criação das Guardiãs da Ria de Aveiro.

A tertúlia foi especialmente dirigida à comunidade piscatória da região, proporcionando um espaço de partilha de histórias, saberes e preocupações sobre a ria. Durante a sessão, foi apresentado o projeto Guardiãs do Mar, que reúne mulheres pescadoras e mariscadoras do estuário do Sado. Estas mulheres, com os seus profundos conhecimentos tradicionais e ligação ao meio aquático, assumem-se como educadoras marinhas, agentes de sensibilização e guardiãs das pradarias marinhas.

No mesmo encontro, foi ainda apresentada a ideia das Guardiãs da Ria, uma iniciativa inserida no projeto europeu LIFE SeagrassRIAwild, que pretende envolver a comunidade local na preservação e valorização do ecossistema único da Ria de Aveiro.
