The LIFE SeagrassRIAwild<\/strong> project, coordinated by the University of Aveiro (UA)<\/strong>, was awarded the \u201cResearch\u201d Prize<\/strong> at the 1st edition of the Blue Carbon Chair Awards<\/strong>, an initiative jointly promoted by the University of Murcia and the environmental consultancy Green CO2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This recognition highlights the project\u2019s remarkable contribution to advancing scientific knowledge, promoting ecological restoration, and enhancing international awareness of the blue carbon concept. The evaluation panel underlined the project\u2019s key role in strengthening the scientific, institutional, and social visibility of seagrass ecosystems, recognized as strategic natural carbon reservoirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Particular praise was given to the innovative restoration actions carried out in the Ria de Aveiro<\/strong>, combined with rigorous applied research methodologies, which have enabled the project to integrate science, conservation, and communication in an exemplary approach that can be replicated across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additionally, the project\u2019s international scope has contributed to the global projection of the blue carbon concept, fostering cooperation among public administrations, research institutions, and conservation organizations from several countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Researcher Jo\u00e3o Pedro Coelho<\/strong>, from the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM)<\/strong> and the Department of Biology at UA<\/strong>, project coordinator, represented the consortium at the award ceremony, held on June 24 in Murcia, Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n (PT)<\/p>\n\n\n\n O projeto LIFE SeagrassRIAwild<\/strong>, coordenado pela Universidade de Aveiro (UA)<\/strong>, foi distinguido com o Pr\u00e9mio \u201cInvestiga\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d<\/strong> na 1.\u00aa edi\u00e7\u00e3o dos Pr\u00e9mios C\u00e1tedra Carbono Azul<\/strong>, uma iniciativa conjunta da Universidade de M\u00farcia<\/strong> e da empresa de consultoria ambiental Green CO2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Esta distin\u00e7\u00e3o reconhece o not\u00e1vel contributo<\/strong> do projeto para o avan\u00e7o do conhecimento cient\u00edfico<\/strong>, a promo\u00e7\u00e3o da restaura\u00e7\u00e3o ecol\u00f3gica<\/strong> e a valoriza\u00e7\u00e3o internacional<\/strong> do conceito de carbono azul<\/strong>.
